Full-length practice tests in Bluebook
Bluebook is the College Board app you will use on test day, and it is also where the official full-length practice tests live. These tests are adaptive, exactly like the real Digital SAT: your performance on the first module of each section decides whether the second module is harder or easier.
Bluebook practice tests are scored. When you finish, you can view and download your scores in My Practice, where you can also review each question and look at your performance by content area. College Board recommends that every student testing in Bluebook take at least one adaptive practice test in the app before test day.
The list of available tests can change, so open Bluebook to see the current set. As of October 2026 the PDF versions on the College Board site are numbered Practice Tests 4 through 11, and there is no Practice Test 1, 2 or 3 in that list.
Install Bluebook on the same device you plan to bring on test day. Taking practice tests on that device is also a check that it works. See SAT test day for device rules.
Linear PDF practice tests 4 to 11

College Board also posts paper versions of SAT Practice Tests 4 through 11 on satsuite.collegeboard.org. Each bundle has three files: the test, the answer explanations, and a scoring guide. The PDFs are nonadaptive (linear), so the second module does not change based on how you did in the first.
Because they are linear, the paper modules are longer than the Bluebook ones. In Practice Test 11, each Reading and Writing module has 33 questions and each Math module has 27, compared with 27 and 22 in the adaptive version.
| Test | Test PDF | Answer explanations | Scoring guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Practice Test 4 | Test | Answers | Scoring |
| Practice Test 5 | Test | Answers | Scoring |
| Practice Test 6 | Test | Answers | Scoring |
| Practice Test 7 | Test | Answers | Scoring |
| Practice Test 8 | Test | Answers | Scoring |
| Practice Test 9 | Test | Answers | Scoring |
| Practice Test 10 | Test | Answers | Scoring |
| Practice Test 11 | Test | Answers | Scoring |
College Board says the PDFs are recommended only for students who will test with paper-based accommodations. Everyone else should treat them as extra material: the answer explanations are useful for review even if you take the same test in Bluebook. Using these files does not mean you are approved for any accommodation.
Question banks, Khan Academy and daily practice
Full-length tests are limited, so most of your skill work should come from the official question pools. College Board runs two question banks with different audiences, and Khan Academy hosts the official SAT course.

Bluebook has a built-in Desmos calculator, so do your Math practice with Desmos too. The SAT calculator guide covers what is allowed and how to practice with it.
When to take each practice test
Treat every unseen official test as a measurement you can only take once. A second attempt at the same test mostly measures your memory, so spread the tests across your prep instead of using them all in the first month.
| When | What to take | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | One Bluebook test | A baseline score and a first look at your weak domains |
| Weeks 2 to 8 | One test every 2 to 3 weeks, plus question bank sets | Check whether skill work is turning into points |
| Last 2 to 3 weeks | One or two Bluebook tests you have never seen | A realistic final read on timing and score |
| Final week | Review only, no new full test in the last two days | Arrive rested |
Take each full test in one sitting, on your test-day device, with the real timing. For the official timing and module layout, see SAT structure. If you want more full-length practice between official tests, the Solo Prep mock test uses the same adaptive format with original questions.
How to review a practice test
- Score it the same day
Bluebook tests are scored for you in My Practice. For a PDF test, count correct answers per section and use that test's scoring guide.
- Sort every miss by cause
Mark each wrong or guessed question as a content gap, a misread, a careless error or a timing problem. The fix for each is different.
- Read the official explanation
Read why the right answer is right and why your choice is wrong, even for questions you got right by guessing.
- Drill the weak skill
Use the Student Question Bank, filtered to the domain and skill you missed, before your next full test.
- Redo the misses a week later
Try only the missed questions again without looking at the explanation. If you still miss them, the skill is not fixed yet.
To turn practice scores into a target, read how SAT scoring works and build a calendar from the SAT test dates.
FAQ
How many official SAT practice tests are there?
The PDF versions on the College Board site are Practice Tests 4 through 11, eight tests in all, as of October 2026. Open Bluebook to see the current list of adaptive tests.
Are the PDF practice tests the same as the Bluebook tests?
They share test numbers, but the PDFs are linear: the second module does not adapt, and each module has more questions. College Board recommends them only for students testing with paper-based accommodations.
Where do I see my Bluebook practice test score?
In My Practice at mypractice.collegeboard.org, where you can view and download your scores and review each question.
Can I retake a Bluebook practice test?
Yes, there is no limit. A retake is good for reviewing your mistakes, but it will overstate your score because you have seen the questions.
What is the difference between the Student and Educator Question Banks?
The Student Question Bank sits inside My Practice and needs a College Board sign-in. The Educator Question Bank is built for teachers, needs no sign-in, and exports question sets to PDF.
