How a round works

  1. Pick a difficulty

Easy, Medium or Hard. Harder words are worth more: ×1.0, ×1.4 and ×1.8.

  2. Answer 20 words

Each word shows four meanings. Pick the right one as fast as you can. A miss adds 3 seconds to your time but does not end the round.

  3. Check your rank

Your score and time go on the global board and your country’s board. Words you missed are listed so you can review them.

How points are scored

Every correct answer multiplies the factors below. A wrong answer scores nothing and resets your combo.

Ties

Equal scores are ranked by total time (faster first), then by who finished first.

A long streak matters more than anything else. Twenty correct answers on Hard at about 3 seconds each is worth roughly 8,600 points.

Which words come up

The words come from the vocabulary that appears most often in Digital SAT reading passages. Easy uses common academic words, Medium the words that show up in most tests, and Hard the rarer words behind the toughest Words in Context questions.
